My start as a lifestyle influencer (ESC volunteer)
Hello hello hello!!!
My name is Leyla, I’m 19 years old and a volunteer at Kulturfabrikken! I’m from Germany, like animals, my friends, dinner parties and love to scroll around on Pinterest and Spotify.
It‘s been almost a month since Tabea and I have arrived at Nykøbing F Station (September 15th 2024)!
Mette and Guna have welcomed us warmly and I was the first one to see our crazy apartment that might be the love of my life..! After settling in and strolling around the city we had our first meeting and our first open workshop on Monday :)
After Monday came Tuesday and now we know Tuesdays mean…… Team Meetings! They’re my favorite types of meetings we’ve had so far because in Team Meetings I get to see everyone! But what I love even more than Team Meetings are the Mentor Meetings with Mette and Guna ♡ It‘s nice to have a chat and the opportunity for a heart-to-heart in Mette’s cozy office. We were lucky to also be able to be part of a concert immediately on our arrival week. As we stood behind the bar, Tabea and I exchanged a look which I immediately knew meant: „Working at the bar is going to be our favorite!“ and even though there weren’t many people at the concert, it was one of the nicest evenings we‘ve had so far <3
Our first weekend in Nykøbing Falster was really sunny and warm.. so warm that we decided it was enough for a swim at Mettes Beach (technically it’s not her’s but in my head it is since it’s so close to her house)
That weekend we also got to have a taste of Denmark’s famous rye bread. Mette advised us to eat it with butter and cheese and I‘m passing that advise on to everyone, who reads this because omg it was so good! The second week flew by and we got to know Guna‘s spot by the stairs at the harbour.. I think we might steal it from her! :p
The week after that, which is last week for us, was the on-arrival-training in Ollerup. On-arrival-training is basically a seminar for volunteers that allows us to 1. learn about Denmark and the work we‘re doing and 2. get to know other volunteers around Denmark. It was a fantastic week filled with laughter, evenings at the pool table and tea (for me at least.. everyone who knows Tabea will know that she‘s serious about her coffee). When we stumbled home after the long week, we didn’t have long until we made our way back into the city because it was Culture Night! (Kulturnatten) We were sad to have missed the most of it but it was still nice to see Mette and Guna (and very shortly also Emil) after a week of new faces! On the same evening I also got to pick up my mom from the train station and she stayed with us for a few days until we parted yesterday! I was so sad the entire day but it was nice to be comforted by my coworkers. After work Tabea and I spent the entire afternoon hanging around on the couch, having a pajama day and watching "Türkish für Anfänger" a German Tv-Show from the 2000s.
Today we‘re back on track, fresher than ever and ready for the second half of the week! And even readier for next week since that’s the week of the autumn holidays in Denmark, promising us lots of commotion in Kukturfabrikken which will probably be full of children and (grand-)parents! Simultaneously the air is getting colder, leaves are falling and sweaters are being pulled out of the closet.. autumn is here and I am beyond happy!
My Autumn Playlist has been on while I‘ve been writing this vlog and if you have nothing to do right now, open your music app, put on Linger by The Cranberries and go out for a nice autumn walk… don‘t forget your scarf though :)
That’s it for now! I‘m looking forward to share all the exciting things that are happening next month! ☆
