friends, art and good food (so everything you need in life :P)
Finally, the weather looks more and more like spring. I think a second cold phase is about to come, but so far, I’m enjoying the sunny days and can’t wait for the real springtime. If we look back to the beginning of February we are starting with the winter theme. The winter holidays were about to happen, and I have to say: We were ready. Together with Guna, Leyla and Elisabeth I spent the last few weeks preparing our big Up-cycling Workshop. I had a lot of fun preparing together with this great team and everyone had their own part in it. Guna was focusing on painting and stamping on cloth, Leyla focused on bedazzling the shirts and Elisabeth and I helped the people to sew different bags, bookmarks and more. After the week of workshops and family concerts I was exhausted but happy, but the week wasn’t over yet. We also spent our time on planning a Fredagshyggebar for the end of the week. With nice music in the background and more creative work we enjoyed a cozy evening together.
I didn’t have a long time to relax because I had visitors from Austria. A group of friends started their travel to visit me on Friday and arrived in Nykobing Falster on Saturday afternoon. I was really looking forward to their visit and was ready for another week full of laughter and adventures. After their long travel we started the next day with hanging out, talking about everything we missed in each other’s lives and discovering Nykobing. On Monday we stormed the many second hand shops in the city, and they came to Kulturfabrikken and took part in the Open Workshop. Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty normal for me, because they took a trip to Copenhagen and Marielyst. I went as usual to work and had a nice time at the sewing workshop and the café shift. Luckily, I was able to take a day of on Thursday, so I took my friends one more time to Copenhagen. For me it is a lot of fun to discover the city more and more with different people and kinda see them through their eyes. On Friday it was once again time to say goodbye and I can only say THANK YOU FOR A PERFECT WEEK, in case anyone of them reads this :P
Besides the visit of my friends, we were also blessed with sunny and almost warm weather and I when I walk to language school in the evening it is still light outside. For me it makes such a big difference in starting the day when I hear the birds in the morning and see the sun light, so I’m really excited for more of that. Don’t get me wrong, I really like winter and the feeling of cozy and hygge, but at some point, I just have the craving for warmer weather again and leaving the house in a light jacket seems like a dream :)
Something that got to and end this month was the art workshop for the confirmation that I was part of. Together with Katrine, one of our art teachers and different groups of teenagers who have their confirmation this year, I met at Kulturfabrikken for three Saturdays. Together we worked on an art piece that will be installed at Nordre Kirke. On the first of march this workshop was happening for the last time and the next step is to put it up in the church together with Lena and Katrine :D
Something that happened before that Saturday was the concert on the 28th of march. I didn’t know what to aspect from the two bands (Klezmophobia + Carte Blanche), but I really enjoyed the concert, and it was fun to watch the show. This time I worked behind the bar together with one of our local volunteers and was in charge of the documentation, so maybe you have already seen the concert post on Instagram or Facebook. If not: Go and check it out! The most fun part of the concert for me was when the front singer of Klezmophobia got of the stage and started to dance together with the visitors. It was a really nice evening, and everybody left tired, but happy.
Because I was working on Saturday, I had a day of on Monday. I actually planned to go to the beach on the weekend, but then my plans changed, and I decided to take a trip to Marielyst on with the bus on Monday. I really enjoyed watching the fields and small villages out of the bus window while driving out of the city and had a wonderful day on the beach, listening to music, enjoying the sun, taking pictures, eating self-made cake and taking pictures with me camera :D
It was a great day and I, for sure, will go on that trip again soon.
Something I realized just now is, that I spend a lot of time this month with creating different thinks, no matter if it was good food (alone or with friends) or art and I really want to keep that doing. I think for most of the time I used those activities to not stress about things (especially the stuff I need to do for the next steps after Denmark) and it really helps me to think about something else.
On day you should keep in mind is the 08/03 World Women’s Day. We spent the last few weeks planning this day to every detail with food, workshops, music, … Mette told us that we get to plan the event way back in fall and I was really looking forward to it ever since. I’m sure all our work will lead to a day of interesting discussions, connection with each other, creating art together and celebrating all women > <
So much different stuff happened this month and it was full of adventure. I really hope, that the next few months will be as adventures and exciting as this one :)
I hope you are doing great, and you will hear form me in one month :D
Vi ses and take care <3
Tabea ^^
PS: Leyla and I have really taken up knitting, so you might see us sitting in the cafe knitting our scarves like two old ladies :))
