Hygge, hygge and even more hygge :))

Winter is comming here in Nykobing Falster and after this warm and sunny autumn, I think I am ready for a hopefully snowy and hyggligt winter. People here have told me, that winter is unfortunately not usually a winter wonderland, but rather grey and rainy. You might think that I’m used to metres and metres of snow in Austria, but that's not really true. Winters in Austria have also been grey and rainy rather than sunny and snowy, so I am not expecting a huge difference, although I am hoping for some snow.

Talking about October I really don’t know where to start. So much happened in such a short time and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Just naming a few things that happened starting with a visit from our friend Andrea (a volunteer in Copenhagen), followed by the autumn holidays at Kulturfabrikken, our first Fredaghyggebar, our first sewing workshop, a weekend meeting up with volunteers in Copenhagen, Leyla's birthday, an interview at the language school, meeting the previous volunteer Debbie, a visit from my parents and my little brother, the daily work at Kulturfabrikken and more that I can’t even think of right now :)

I met so many new people and got the chance to meet up with people I already knew, like as my family.  I really enjoyed the time together with them and it felt nice to have someone around that I am used to, compared to all the new impressions I experienced in the past two months. Together with them I discovered Copenhagen a little bit more and Leyla and I had the pleasure of eating one of my favourite Austrian dishes called “Käsknöpfle”. For me it’s the perfect dish when the weather outside is getting colder and the combination of cheese and dough topped with roasted onions is perfection for me. My parents cooked it for us after a long workday and it made me fell a bit at home, even though we were sitting 1 041.3 km away from home <3

Apart from “Käsknöpfle” Leyla and I also got to enjoy another typical Austrian dish, or more dessert called “Apfelstrudel” which is a sweet swirl filled with apples, crumbles and cinnamon and usually eaten warm with vanilla ice cream on the side. Unfortunately, we used the wrong dough, but it was still very delicious, and the smell filled our whole apartment with a hyggeligt feeling. I hope with all my heart that you guys get to enjoy both of these dishes once in your life, in the best chase after skiing in the Alps in Austria ;)

All in all, it has been a very beautiful and hyggeligt autumn and now I am ready for the winter.
