bussy month, but good memories :)

I already wrote in my last blog about the visit of my friend Janosch and our adventure with Maja and Marie at Mønsklint. But again, it was a very nice day, and I hope I can go again in the last month of my stay here in Denmark. Well technically I will be here for more than one month, but in between I have two weeks of summer holidays and we all know how time can fly. But let’s look into the past and not into the future, at least for now :P

All in all June was a really busy month, but I enjoyed every minute of it :) A few days after the Mønsklint Janosch and me decided to got to Copenhagen and I finally managed to go to the Design Museum there, which I can also recommend. It was kinda on my To-Do list for Denmark, so now I can finally check it off on there.

In between my next trip and the visitors we spent the time at Kulturfabrikken planning the big Summer fest at the end of the month. We also needed to prepare everything for the new outdoor Café, which arrived at the front door of Kulturfabrikken on the 23 of June. If you haven’t seen it yet you should definitely step by during the summer, while it’s open and enjoy the new product and definitely the ice cream. I personally can recommend the Solstange :P

Another point of of my to do list, was to travel around in Denmark. I would say I did okay with that bulletpoint, but the weekend before the event I made one of the longest trips in Denmark (at least so far). A few friends, which we met at the volunteer events, asked us, if we want to join them on a trip to Aalborg to visit some more volunteer friends. And so I started the trip on the 20th of June and took a train to copenhagen. There I met up with Niki, a volunteer from Hungary and stayed at her apartment for the night. The next morning we got up early in the morning to catch our Flixbus and met up with Andrea, a volunteer from Serbia. After 6 hours of traveling we arrived in Aalborg and met up with even more volunteers. We were a group of seven volunteers with seven different nationalities and it felt like we knew each other for more than the three times we saw each other before. That is something that I realized, when it comes to getting to know other volunteers in Denkmark. Even though we are all coming from different countries, with different backgrounds and different life experiences it is very easy to bond with each other and you can feel the support and understanding, because in the end we are all in the same situation and have similar or maybe even the same worries. So I was really happy to see all theses wonderful people again. We discovered Aalborg and also went to Skagen, so now I can say, that I was at the northernmost point of danmark, there where the ocans meet. Goodbyes were once again very hard, but we agreed that we made the best of our time and created really good memories.

Because of the weekend with the others, I kind of “missed” midsummer, because I spent the day and evening with traveling back to Nykøbing Falster, but because I was really tired and wanted to get home and the fact, that the weather was not the best, that was okay for me. When I was back in the apartment after midnight, I was just happy to be back and could go to sleep :))

Back at work on Tuesday we realized, that there is still a lot of stuff to do until the event could start, eventhough we already managed so much. But as a team we were able to get everything done in time easily and were looking forward to the event. I was also able to see the outdoor Café for the first time on Tuesday and I really like my new workspot for the summer.

Finally the big day came and it was Friday, the 27th of June and the summer fest, which we put so much work in, was finally about to happen. This day and the following day were a absolute success and the house was buzzing again of people. I had a lot of fun working in the kiosk together with Sofie and enjoyed walking through the house and looking into every room.

In between all the planning and traveling around we also had our last Open and SY Workshop, well at least for now. It was both times really hyggligt and we celebrated with cake, looking at pictures for the past workshops and of course were once again creative together. Tusind tak for everyone, who was a part of those workshops and we hopefully see you again after the summer holidays :D

The week after the summerfest our summer program started, which meant to me helping Susanne with her open summer workshop and together with the families, which stopped by, we created magical wands and little clay creatures.

So looking into the future, my summer program will be working in the outdoor Café and helping at the open summer workshops and I’m really looking forward to that.

Leyla also got the change to enjoy the two sunny days in Denmark with enjoying the nearby ocean and hopefully there will be more of thoses long and sunny summerdays before we need to say goodbye. But I need to say goodbye anyway, at least for a short time, because of my summer holidays ;)

I’m looking forward to the last episode of my stay here in Denmark :D

Take care and vi ses
