Blog #4 Home for the Holidays
Godt nytår everyone!
It’s been some busy weeks between going home to Germany, Christmas, New Years eve and coming back to Danmark, so let me tell you about it.
On the 20th of December Hanna and I were supposed to take the earliest train going to Germany, but of course the days before Christmas there had to be train cancellations, delays and approximately a million other people wanting to travel home for the holidays. Slowly but surely my travel journey turned from taking 12,5 hours up to taking 17 hours until I could finally get off the train and into the arms of my family and my boyfriend at home. It was the best to see all of them again, but even though I was pretty exhausted from the travel day there was no time to relax since I had a party waiting for me that night and many more events the next two weeks. I got to meet with my climbing group again and go to my trusted bouldering gym in Ulm. Everyday was filled with spending time with my family, meeting friends and going out in the evenings. It honestly felt good being back at a place where I know everything and everyone.
For Christmas we visited both my grandparents. Happy to be together we spent the Holidays eating delicious food, playing games, opening gifts and sitting in front of the nice warm fireplace. Det var meget hyggeligt! After we got home from my grandparents I had one week left in my hometown, which I obviously had to use to enjoy as much time as possible with my friends and boyfriend. Me and my friends had our own little Christmas and we made Raclette. I also got to celebrate New Years Eve surrounded by people I love, eating together and going out to despite the -10°C weather we had. It made me incredibly happy to spend those two weeks at home and even though they were very busy I appreciated every day. To be honest that made leaving again pretty hard. I was exited for the rest of my stay in Danmark, but still it was hard saying goodbye to everyone and everything at home.
The last two weeks now going back to work and to my routines has helped getting comfortable here in Danmark again. We even had some snow, which made winter seem a little more romantic instead of just dark and cold. We also got to see our first live handball game! It was super fun and Nykøbing won against København. Other than that the last days have been filled with a family concert at work, of course climbing (in København and Vordingborg) and surprisingly a test in language school. Hanna and I didn’t know the test was going to be so soon and the messaging system didn’t work so we were a bit shocked but still passed. That means now we can move up to the next module and hopefully improve our danish skills more over the next months…
I’m looking forward to everything!
